Why Guildrim Exists
Western civilization collapsed. We must build its replacement.
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They destroyed the perceived relevance of the arts, virtue, and general creativity within the societies where they occur. The results are a loss of meaning, the dissolution of community, and sacrifice of social capital to the industrial apparatus.
Many social problems exist because of industrial society’s war on creativity. No competent counterforce yet exists to defend or advance the interests of the ever-dwindling creative minority. We are all poorer for it. Our impoverishment is felt most strongly in the loss of social capital. And civilization decays thereby.
The problem of Western civilizational collapse is exacerbated by the philistine attitude of the political Right.
The Right, being the historical force for order and hierarchy, is equally the force for civilization set against the chaos and relativism of the Left. Or, at least, it was. However, it has abandoned this obligation to civilization for manifold reasons. Meanwhile, the Left has driven degeneracy in all domains unabated. The results have been the collapse of social order, the decline of moral and intellectual standards, and the disappearance of a unifying vision for what the West should be.
The collapse is reversible but only if the Right assumes its responsibility as the steward of civilization. At present, no force exists to drive this resumption.
Guildirm fills that void.
How Guildrim Achieves Its End
Guildrim is a hub for people who recognize the collapse of Western civilization and the need to build its replacement. It is an interface between collapse and creation. Thus, it describes the factors that fomented our civilizational decay and addresses how the replacement can be built. The tool for building the replacement is a guild. Guildrim’s mission is to generate a network of guilds that will build the replacement.
How Guildrim Achieves Its End
Guildrim is named for the guild system. A guild is a kind of social organization that may be thought of as a combination of a business league and an artist collective. The guild’s unifying principle is aesthetics. Its purpose is to leverage the symbiotic relationship between labor and art for the benefit of both. Artists can use it as a marketing tool and patronage network. Professionals can leverage it for networking and training opportunities.
The guild benefits the broader society by generating cultural artifacts through artisanal work and by romanticizing the role of work in pursuit of a guild’s ends. It offers an opportunity for disaffected creatives to contribute to a community, and it functions as a social support network for the many lonely and despairing people who occupy Western societies.
What Guildrim Is
Guildrim is the project. The guild is the tool. The Guildrim are the people who builds guilds. The Guild Pill is shorthand name of the philosophy. The long name is Aesthetic Empiricism.
Guildrim is a publication for rebuilding civilization. It uses guilds to do so. A guild is a combination of an aesthetic-based subculture and a trade union. Its purpose is to unite labor and art in the pursuit of a vivifying artistic vision. Doing so imparts purpose to those who need it and generates community and social capital in the process.
